Kim Fail Snails the WebJam8 Crowd with ut.ag

ut.ag was invited to speak at WebJam8, part of the Web Directions South conference, last night at Bar Broadway in Ultimo, Sydney.

Kim Heras (one of our co-founders) flew the flag for us and delivered an awesome presentation to the tough crowd of 350 web die-hards who were getting quite unruly after 2 hours of free booze.
I'm stoked that he managed to slip the Fail Snail in there when he first clicked over to the site. Even though it was half chopped of by the lousy screen res, everyone knew what it was and it was a hit. Totally staged of course, Kim didn't step a foot wrong and delivered a really common-sense and engaging presentation that not only showed us how to use the site but gave a good background about why there's a demand for this.

Overall it was a great night. There was a good mix of presenters - some totally geeky/abstract, some really amazing ideas, and some absolute silliness (BeerTweet?).
My colleague at Massive Interactive, James McParlane, was on stage right after us and presented his Javascript finite state machine using a toaster that even burnt toast as a demo. See his blog post.

Renai Lemay (editor of ZDNet) came over to congratulate us on one of the best presentations of the night, and Kim and I got our mugshots up on ZDNet: http://ut.ag/kG0. (I'm "friend" :) )

uTag Now Has A Get Satisfaction Page

Part of our focus at the moment is making sure we listen to the community as much as possible to ensure we get uTag right as a service.

To help us do this we've created our own Get Satisfaction Page.

You can find the page here - http://getsatisfaction.com/utag

For those unfamiliar with the service, Get Satisfaction is a site for helping aggregate community feedback and ideas. It also allows us to make our conversations with you as open and inclusive as possible.

We look forward to hearing all your feedback (whether good or bad) soon

uTag Listens to you! Banner now at the bottom of the page.

We have been listening to the twitterati feedback and we have upgraded uT.ag so all the banners are at the bottom of the page.

This makes uTag much less intrusive and has infact improved click thrus as people are way more inclined to click a link after they have read a webpage rather than at the top. A win win win!

Thanks for your feedback Twitter!!!

uT.ag Traffic

Just quick update thanks for everyone who has been linking to us and helping us grow.

We have had ~1300 unique visitors to our homepage yesterday and we are up to around ~1200 today. Amazing traffic growth but we are aware we need to work really hard to keep it coming.

The 3 key traffic drivers have been

1. Twitter discussions about us
2. Hacker News
3. SitePoint

Note this is just the data for the homepage and doesnt include the stats for the number of url's being clicked or ad's being served.
